Your adventure will include a journey to the massive Kukulkan pyramid, “El Castillo” (The Castle), which is located roughly at the center of the site. Its construction was planned so that during each Vernal Equinox the dying sun would cast a shadow of a serpent (the Mayan God Kukulkan) writhing down the steps of the pyramid.

Following our time in Chichen Itza, we will have the opportunity to visit Valladolid, a charming colonial city, once a capital of Spanish power. Ornate architecture, market places, and a Franciscan convent can all be found in this remarkable destination.

Finally, if you so desire, you may also enjoy a swim in a pristine cenote with lush foliage that falls into the deep emerald waters below.
